The moment I knew I wanted to be a rap artist, I wanted to learn and absorb the knowledge that I could about the Hip-hop culture. Along this journey, I've discovered and listened to a lot of rap music. I want to take this moment to share my top 5 favorite rap albums.
- The Blueprint by Jay-Z. It's one of the few albums I can think of that'll play from start to finish and not feel an urge to skip a track.
- iLLmatic by Nas. There would be no rap album called The ILL Standard without the inspiration of iLLmatic.
- Me Against The World by 2Pac. Definitely my favorite 2Pac album and what I would consider his most conscientious or in-depth album.
- Life After Death by The Notorious B.I.G. I feel as though I've listened to this album more than I've listened to Ready to Die. And Biggie's lyrical prowess is definitely something I connect with.
- Nellyville by Nelly. St. Louis is not too far from Centralia. The moment Nelly had made it, it made me feel as if a dream is not out of reach. But everybody's story is different and the journey to success is not always an easy one.
There you have it! My top 5 favorite rap albums.
